Kuzbass (Russia) and many other mining regions are characterized by the problem of pollution of water bodies with harmful substances contained in the water pumped out of mines and open pits. Ore waters, as a rule, contain particles of coal dust, clay, compounds of calcium, magnesium, oil products, etc. Light substances (whose density is less than the density of water), such as oil products, accumulate on the surface of the water, and the rest of the particles are in suspension or gradually settle. Of interest is the problem of treating mine waters by pumping them into abandoned mines and further using these waters after sedimentation (for heavy particles) or floating (for light particles) pollutants. This paper presents a mathematical model of the turbulent transport of pollutants injected into a water-flooded mine. The numerical results of calculations obtained using this model. It can be used to select the optimal conditions for the purification of polluted waters.
